Waterfront Glamping in Southern Maine
A stay at Fortland comes with more than a place to sleep. Every guest arrives by boat, settles into a private site stocked with real linens and everything needed for a comfortable night outdoors, and can freely explore the island's beaches, lookouts, and shared gathering spaces during their stay. Here's everything included in your stay, from the moment you step off the boat to your last cup of coffee on the overlook deck.
Every Stay Includes:
- Round-trip boat transportation on our check-in / check-out boats
- Overnight parking for one vehicle
In Your Private Site:
- Supima cotton linens, bedding, and one towel per guest
- Solar battery for charging devices
- Two handheld lanterns
- Portable solar shower (RinseKit)
- Two Adirondack chairs
Enjoy our Common Spaces:
Three Private Beaches
- Seaglass Beach: a rocky cove on the southernmost point of the island - collect some treasure to take home with you!
- Lobster Pound Beach: a sandy stretch of beach facing east towards Whitehead Passage and the open ocean
- Sunset Beach: as its name states, this beach has west-facing sunset views, including Fort Gorges and the Portland Skyline
Shared Kitchen Facilities
- One picnic table per site under the Community Tent
- Cookware set for each site: saucepan, skillet, large bowl, utensils, spatula, tongs, cutting board, knives, strainer, can opener, scissors, vegetable peeler (and additional items available upon request)
- Propane grills and burners, salt + pepper, olive oil, wine key, bottle opener, tea kettle
- Compostable dishware - plates, bowls, cups, forks, knives + spoons
- Drinking water
- Foot pedal-operated sink for handwashing + dishwashing

- Overlook deck with sweeping views from downtown Portland to the open Atlantic Ocean, furnished with cedar adirondack chairs and small tables
- Cedar picnic tables + adirondack chairs at various scenic lookouts throughout the island
- Hot coffee served every morning (plus cream and sugar) + select teas/cocoa
- Communal fire pit with firewood + marshmallow skewers
