Parking + Transport

We provide overnight parking for one vehicle per booked site at Bug Light Boat Launch in South Portland.

Unless otherwise specified:

CHECK-IN BOAT DEPARTS BUG LIGHT @ 3:30pm

CHECK-OUT BOAT DEPARTS FORTLAND @ 11:00am

IMPORTANT: Arrive AT LEAST 15-20 minutes early.

If you require a boat at a different time, you may book* your own transportation at your own expense. We recommend Fogg’s Water Taxi @ (207) 415-8493.

*If you will be arriving or departing at a different check in/out time, you must inform Fortland’s staff (call or text (207) 200-1267) so we can help accommodate your plans.

Arriving at the Kiosk + Checking In

  1. Stop at the kiosk, say you are with Fortland
  2. The attendant will give you a parking pass to put on your dashboard. If there is no attendant, don’t worry!Bug Light won’t actually tow.
  3. Drive down to the end (to the dock) and drop off your gear on the lawn.
  4. Please don’t block the boat ramps with your car or your gear. 
  5. In some cases, you will be greeted by Fortland staff at this time! 
  6. Drive back toward the kiosk, stay to the right, and head into the cement lot. You may park anywhere in that lot.
  7. Write your name and stay dates on your parking pass (if you got one), and leave on your dash board.
  8. Don’t forget your keys!
  9. Walk down back to the boat ramp. Pat yourself on the back. You made it. And early, at that! Enjoy the view for a few minutes while you wait for the boat to arrive.
